Dr. Winning Uchenna Become recognized by Igbo’s in Diaspora (Photos)

IGBO’S IN DIASPORA BEGINS TO RECOGNIZE DR. WINNING UCHENNA

It’s was a lovely evening yesterday the 27th of September 2020, Were Hon. Mike Uzoagba (Chief of staff) representing His Excellency Dr. Winning Uchenna as a special guest of Honor at the IGBO’s in Diaspora Days event/ New yam festival.

The event futures lots of traditional dance, traditional flutes songs (igbu orja), cutting of the New yam, speeches and presentations.

The highlight of the event was cutting of the new yam, the people witnessed as Hon. Mike among other dignitaries cut the new yam, which historically signified to the IGBO’s the beginning of eating the new yam.

In the past, this event was so significant to the Igbo’s that if it’s not done it would be a taboo for an Igbo son/man to eat the New yam, it was considered a sacrilege to engage in any activity regarding the new yam if this ceremony was not done.

However, as the age goes by the Christianity Practice watered down this believe, only the ceremony is today practiced without it’s ancient believes attached.

However, it’s values can never be overemphasized, the Igbos used this occasion to thank the almighty Creator for providing for the Igbo man and humanity at large food to eat. The priest or in present days clergy will purr libations, make incantations with words unknown, all in appreciation to chi-okeka (God the Creator).

Making him understand that they appreciate his provision.

These the IGBO’s do every year for bountiful harvest, as was witnessed yesterday by Hon. Mike On behalf of Dr. Solomon winning.
