CRS SENATORS REACT ON CROSS RIVER STATE WAR

CRS SENATORS SEEK LASTING SOLUTIONS TO THE COMMUNAL CLASHES IN EREI COMMUNITY, BIASE AND OTHER WARRING COMMUNITIES IN CROSS RIVER STATE.

Sen. Gershom Bassey, a Senator representing the Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State and Sen. Sandy Onor, representing the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State has called on the National Boundary Commission to clearly delineate the boundaries between Erei Community in Biase LGA, Obubra and other warring communities in Cross River State. According to the Senators, this will solve the long standing communal clashes between the warring communities.

The motion for the delineation of the boundaries was moved by Sen. Michael Nnachi, representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District of Ebonyi State and supported by Sen. Gershom Bassey, representing the Southern Senatorial of Cross River State and Sen. Sandy Onor, representing the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State.

Sen. Gershom Bassey attributed most of the communal clashes to the lack of a clear boundary delineation between the warring communities and urged the National Boundary Commission to live up to it’s responsibility and be proactive rather than reactive. The Distinguished Senator also stated that the loss of life and property is because the boundary Commission has been sleeping on its responsibilities. He therefore called on the Commission to swing into action in order to avert the communal crisis in the society.

Sen. Gershom Bassey and Sen. Sandy Onor are committed to the cause of ensuring peace and calm in these warring communities. In the 8th Assembly, Sen. Gershom Bassey moved a motion for the delineation of boundaries to prevent the loss of lives and properties in communities with boundary disputes.
